The filter in most surgical masks is a middle layer of Meltblown; a plastic textile that uses electrostatic charge to filter particles going through it. Meltblown is a thicker, more fibrous material that can retain heat and humidity when worn in a mask. In the Humask Pro line (Humask Kids Pro 2000 and Humask Pro 3000) these masks are equipped with the HuCare membrane as a filter layer. This membrane is made out of a totally different material and is preferred due to its light-weight feel and moisture wicking capabilities as well as optimal filtration of 99% of bacteria and particles. The HuCare membrane makes Humask Pro masks thinner and easier to breathe through even with three layers.
