Mophead varieties (Hydrangea macrophylla) produce huge ball-shaped flowers (20cm across / 8"). Hydrangeas are excellent as cut flowers in the vase and flower heads can be dried for arrangements. Some varieties change flower color depending on the pH of the soil, generally blue on acid soils and pink on alkaline. Not suitable for climates lower than Zone 5.
